What is The Woodlands High School Science NHS?

Purpose:

  • We are a service organization dedicated to spreading science!

  • Throughout the year, we volunteer at various science-related events in the community. Examples include elementary school science nights, triathlons, and much more.

Opportunities:

  • We run peer tutoring available to all TWHS students. Tutoring is held every day in Mrs. Champagne's room (365) after school. Members can choose to sign up for a weekly time slot to earn tutoring points.

  • We hold lectures given by college students on the application process, tips to balance school, and more.

  • Members earn points toward lettering by volunteering, donating towards fundraisers, tutoring, and attending/leading lectures. See the lettering article of the bylaws for more information.

  • For more information and to stay up to date on new opportunities, make sure you look to the right of this page to join the Band!

Who Can Join and when do we meet?

  • The society is open to sophomores (after the fall semester), all juniors, and all seniors who meet certain academic requirements, as expressed in the bylaws. Remember that you must have a 3.5+ GPA in all of your science courses, and you must have also taken at least one AP or honors science class.

  • We meet every other Friday in LGI 1. Since our members are involved in so many other activities, there are two meeting times available each week: one beginning at 6:55 AM and one beginning at 2:45 PM. Members only need to go to one time slot. Be sure to sign in!

Lettering Policy:

  • In order to letter as a member, you need to attend at least 75% of the meetings.

  • Everyone can letter if they meet the requirements.

Most importantly, Science NHS is about having fun and making friends! We can't wait to see you!
